Inspired by some of the most ubiquitous residents of Trafalgar Square, ‘Please Do Not Feed the Ladies’ was a witty, wistful and whimsical performance installation that took place live in the Square, as part of Anthony Gormley’s One&Other Fourth Plinth project.

Combining a site-specific installation with the sound, movement and dynamism of live performers, ‘Please Do Not Feed the Ladies’ was an unforgettable experience both for the audience in Trafalgar Square and also digital viewers, who watched the show live via the One&Other webcam.

“Cabinets of Curiosity is all about site-specific work, and you don’t really get more site-specific than Trafalgar Square,” says Artistic Director, Sarah Blake. “This show was a quirky look at both the eccentricity and extravagance of the Square, as well as the poverty and protest that has gone on there over the years. The atmosphere was fantastic - performing in such an open, iconic space was so rewarding and the crowd in the square really got into it ”

Screen viewers were also very taken with the show - in the Sky Arts highlights programme, ‘Please Do Not Feed the Ladies’ was rated number three in the top five picks for the entire week.
